FC Bayern Munich came back to winnings ways against Schalke in the Bundesliga after they were held by Hertha Berlin 2-2 in their opening fixture. Robert Lewandowski was on song for the Bavarians as the Polish marksman scored a great hattrick to secure a comfortable 3-0 win for Niko Kovac's men against FC Schalke.
With title challengers Borussia Dortmund in driver's seat with two back to back wins, Bayern needed to get off the blocks against the Blues. Speaking to Thomas Muller after the game, the German team said, "I think we started solid last game as well but not with much luck but today we were under pressure against a strong team like Schalke. It is always good to win here and Robert (Lewandowski) came up with his freekick, very happy today and the squad has little bit more players with high quality."

The match also marked as Philippe Countinho's debut for Bayern after his arrival on loan from FC Barcelona this season. The Brazilian was ecstatic with the win and spoke highly of his teammate Robert Lewandowski.
“He’s incredible, just world-class,” the Brazil international told reporters after his debut.
“It’s incredible, the way he trains. I’ve been here a week and watching him up close he’s so much better than you think on TV."
“He had a great game today, a great hat-trick and he deserves it," Coutinho said to the reporters after the game about Lewandowski.
Thomas Muller was also quizzed whether his position in the first eleven in jeopardy after Philippe Coutinho's arrival, but Muller has other ideas. "No, I think we are different players. He likes the ball at his feet and is very flexible and can have good movements with the ball. But he also needs someone to pass to in the penalty area," the German forward told to Indian media contingent after the game.

Bayern will now play Mainz at the Allianz Arena on the 31st August in the Bundesliga.
