IFA announce Round 1 fixtures for Calcutta Football League 2019

The league will kickoff on 26th July when Mohun Bagan take on Peerless FC in a crunch opening day clash.
In exciting news for football fans in Kolkata, the Indian Football Association (IFA) announced the fixtures for round one of the upcoming Calcutta Football League (CFL). Mohun Bagan and Peerless FC are all set to lock horns on the opening day of the league on 26th July, marking the beginning of the 2019 edition of one of the most-awaited tournaments in the country.
CFL Round 1 Fixtures
The Mariners had clinched the title last time around, which was also their 30th CFL trophy. The club is aiming to retain the crown this time around, with the objective of closing down the tally of victories by their arch-rivals Quess East Bengal, who have won the competition for a record 39 times.
East Bengal came second to Bagan in last season, unable to clinch the tritle for the ninth season on the trot. However this campaign, the Red and Gold's boss, Alejandro Menendez has already reached the city and will be on the sidelines during the CFL tournament, which come as a boost for the Kolkata giants.
On the other hand, Bagan have appointed Spaniard Kibu Vicuna as their first overseas head coach since Karim Bencharifa and have made several impressive signings. The Mariners just completed a 10-day training camp in Goa and are themselves looking strong contenders to retain the title.

The club which plays in the second division of the I-League are desperate to regain their status in Kolkata and the Indian football scenario in general.
The Black Panthers begin the season on 29th July with a clash at home against Aryan Club. On the other hand, East Bengal host George Telegraph on 31st July, aiming to overcome their rivals from the other side of the city.
