Delhi host Kolkata in ISL Sunday Showdown
The visitors need a win after a defeat in their last game in Pune…
Delhi Dynamos coach Gianluca Zambrotta has agreed his team has a special motivation when they meet Atletico de Kolkata in a Hero Indian Super League clash at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi, on Sunday.
Both teams are comfortably placed in the table and sit top and fourth respective. However both come into the game on the back of contrasting fortunes. Delhi routed Chennai 4-1 in their previous outing while ATK lost 1-2 to Pune in their last match.
Delhi Dynamos are leading the ISL table with 16 points and can open a four-point lead if they manage full points against Atletico de Kolkata, the only team who has defeated them this season.
The Delhi pair of Sana Singh and Richard Gadze are nursing minor knocks and their involvement in this one remains doubtful, with the duo facing fitness tests on the morning of the match. The rest of the squad is fit and available.
Spaniard Javi Lara will likely make a return to the starting line-up while it is also understood that his compatriot Juan Belencoso will partner Helder Postiga upfront. There are no injuries or suspensions for the Kolkatans.
Head to Head
Games between these two teams have been tight with both teams having one win each and the other three games ending in draws in their five matches. When they met earlier in the season, an Iain Hume penalty gave Kolkata all three points even after they were reduced to 10 men.
Man to Watch
Florent Malouda-Delhi Dynamos: The winger was a mainstay for the Dynamos last season but has had to bide his time this year. After having a quiet first half of the campaign he sparked into life in his team’s 4-1 rout of Chennai in the last match. The French winger scored two and assisted two as he led his team to an emphatic win. He will once again have to be on top form against ATK.
Helder Postiga-Atletico de Kolkata: After missing a part of the season through injury the forward has recently returned for the Bengal Tigers. The striker will be tasked with leading the line against what has been a sturdy Lions back four. His performance will be key to their display on the night.
Delhi Dynamos: Antonio Doblas Santana(GK), Rubén González Rocha, Chinglensana Singh Konsham, Souvik Chakraborty, Anas Edathodika, Milan Singh, Marcos Tébar, Florent Malouda(C), Kean Lewis, Marcelo Leite Pereira, Richard Gadze.
Atletico de Kolkata: Debjit, Pritam, Arnab, Sereno, Prabir, Lara, Borja, Doutie, Dika, Postiga, Belencoso
The match will be telecast live on Star Sports 1, HD1, Star Sports 2, HD2, Star Gold, Star Gold HD, Jalsha Movies, Jalsha Movies HD and Hotstar. You can also follow Live text commentary of the game on Khelnow.com.
