The striker will become the club's fourth foreigner this season...

Kolkata giants East Bengal FC began their I-League 2017 campaign last Saturday. When announcing their squad before the start of the season, the club withheld the name of their fourth foreign player for the asian quota.

However, sources close to the club have now told Khel Now that the Red and Gold are set to sign Kyrgyzstan international Ildar Amirov as their fourth foreign player replacing the departed Korean striker Do Dong-hyun in the coming days.

Amirov, who plays for Turkish side Turanspor in the Bolgesel Amator Lig will become a part of the club’s dressing room soon. According to sources, the 29-year old striker will be applying for his visa tomorrow and will reach the city soon. It is still not clear whom he will replace in the current East Bengal line-up but Amirov is set to be an important part of East Bengal’s title chase this season.

The right-footed striker has been capped by his national side Kyrgyzstan 33 times, scoring two goals. Though Amirov plays as a striker, the Kyrgyz footballer can also play in a deeper role. One out of his two international goals came against India when Amirov scored the opener for Kyrgyzstan in the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup, in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo. Amirov, who is also the captain of his current club side was the highest scorer for his club in the current season. He also helped his club side to finish as the runners-up last campaign.
