East Bengal edged past Chennai City on Sunday evening with a dominant 3-0 scoreline at Barasat Stadium. According to the winning Coach Trevor Morgan, the League leaders scored ‘top quality goals’ and are looking forward to their next match already.

“The goals we scored were top quality,” said the East Bengal head coach in the post-match press conference. “We looked solid at the back and we look forward to next week,” he went on saying.

East Bengal had a difficult start against Chennai City FC in the first half but they found their feet in the second half and scored three goals to win the match. “It was a tremendous second half,” he said to the reporters.

The former Dempo coach also revealed that the League leaders’ current position does not matter to him unless the club is keeping their unbeaten streak continued and running. “It is not where we are now. What we want to do is to keep carry on winning,” the East Bengal coach said.

Meanwhile, with another defeat against East Bengal on Sunday evening, Chennai City went down to the 10th position in the League standings and closer to be relegated at the end of the season. The Chennai-based team started the game brightly with early prospects to securing an optimistic result against East Bengal. However, the hopes were completely depleted in the second half by the East Bengal forwards.

When asked about the match, Chennai City head coach Robin Charles Raja revealed that injuries ruined the chances of winning for his team against East Bengal. “Certain injuries, Denson came out of injury,” said the coach. However, he also pointed out that his team conceded ‘silly’ goals and they held a certain target of acquiring points against East Bengal.

Raja was also asked about his feelings about his team’s relegation woes to which he responded, “We played well, but goals matter,” and concluded for the evening.
