With the summer transfer window in full swing, Khel Now takes a look at all the prominent transfers which took place in the week past...

The summer transfer window is well and truly underway and 1st July marks the official opening of what is expected to be a hectic transfer window. There have been many clubs who already confirmed the signings of players before the window began and the players have now officially completed their moves to their respective clubs. The last week of June was quite lively on the transfer front and saw some major deals go through.

The Biggest news of the week came from Premier League giants Arsenal, who agreed a world record of £52m with Lyon to bring in striker Alexandre Lacazette to boost their attack. The Frenchman completed his medical at Arsenal yesterday and is tipped to be confirmed as a gunner soon after. Their rivals Chelsea are also making big strides this week after they agreed on a £34.2m deal for German defender Antonio Rudiger who also completed his medical with the club yesterday. The Blues are also close to confirming the capture of AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, which could see Nemanja Matic head to rivals Manchester United.

The Italian clubs conducted a lot of transfer activity as AS Roma made multiple acquisitions last week with defenders Rick Karsdorp, Bruno Peres and Hector Moreno joining the club to bolster their defence ahead of the new season. They also snapped up powerful midfielder Maxime Gonalons from Olympique Lyonnais for €5m. AC Milan also made a quirky signing in former Sunderland striker Fabio Borini on loan to add another striker to their ranks after signing Andre Silva last month, with the rejuvenated Milan side also expected to announce the signing of Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

Barcelona also made some news when they signed Gerard Deulofeu from Everton for €12m as Ernesto Valverde looks to boost his attack ahead of the new season. Sporting CP's highly rated defender Ruben Semedo stunned many by moving to Villarreal for €14m who also signed Manchester City's exciting forward Enes Unal for €14m. Sevilla also announced the return of midfielder Ever Banega from Internazionale. There was another really shocking transfer in La Liga as Real Madrid sold Enzo Zidane to Alaves for free, with Zinedine Zidane not even sparing his own son from being transferred for his development!. Although the deal does include a buyback clause.

The Premier League also put saw plenty of transfer business in midweek as there were some really interesting appointments on the coaching front last week. Crystal Palace announced the appointment of former Inter Milan manager Frank de Boer as their manager replacing Sam Allardyce. Southampton also announced their replacement for Claude Puel by appointing Mauricio Pellegrino as their manager after the Spaniard had an impressive season at Alaves.

There was a real peak in transfer activity amongst the midtable English clubs with West Bromwich Albion making a big move in signing striker Jay Rodriguez from Southampton for €13m. The Saints themselves made a defensive signature after the announcement of Pellegrino, signing Polish defender Jan Bednarek. Huddersfield Town also completed the signing of Aaron Mooy from Manchester City for around €9m, retaining the services of the Australian who played a big part in their promotion last season.

Jermaine Defoe completed his return to Bournemouth on a free transfer, with the Cherries also re-signing Nathaniel Ake from Chelsea for a club record of €20m and looking to mean business ahead of the new season. Chelsea announced the signing of Willy Caballero from Manchester City on a free as a replacement for the departing Asmir Begovic, while the Premier League champions are also expected to seal the signature of German defender Antonio Rudiger who had an impressive outing for winners Germany at the Confederations Cup.
