Aaren D’Silva scored a brace in the Young Gaurs win...

Football Club of Goa registered a fluent 4-1 win over FC Bardez Goa in the Goa Professional league match played under floodlights at Duler Stadium earlier today.

Bardez did not had the best start to the league as they lost their first match against Corps of Signals but manages to come back stronger in the last match defeating Vasco SC 6-0, whereas Goans were yet to register a win. After drawing their opening match against Salgaocar FC, Dempo SC had routed the Young Gaurs by four goals in the last match.

Liston Colaco, Jonathan Cardozo, Yasir Mohammad, Kingslee Fernandes and Jason Barbosa were back in the Goan Line up after coming back from ISL pre-season tour, while Lalnunsiama was the new face in the squad. Meanwhile, Bardez coach had named the same starting XI which earned him full points in the last match.

The match started with a midfield play from both the sides where both teams had equal chances in the session, but it was Bardez who came up with a first chance of the match when Shubham Dessai made a darting run on the right wing before trying to find Kirtikesh Gadekar in the box but Goan defender Jonathan cleared it for corner. Whereas Goan had their first chance the match in the 30th minutes when Liston Colaco curled the ball to Aaren D’Silva in the box but the striker’s header missed the target by few inches.

Though the first chance of the match was created by Pink Brigade, it was the Young Gaurs who came up with the first goal when Liston once again sent a pinpoint cross in the box to Aaren, who tap-in from close to take his side in the lead.

However, they could not hold the lead for too long as Bardez quickly equalised in the 38th minutes when Goan defender handled the ball in the process of clearing Jessel Carneiro’s powerful shot in the box to give away the penalty kick. Clinton Niasso blasted in from the spot to put the terms on the level for Bardez.

The Young Gaurs had the chance to once again go on a lead when Yasir set up an excellent ball to Arren in the box but this time striker headed wide from 6-yards.

It was just two minutes in the second half when the young Gaurs surged ahead when Aaren completed his brace with an easy tap-in from close after Bardez keeper Aliston Fernandes failed to collect Liston’s powerful long ranger.

A minute later, Liston scored the third goal for his side when his teammate Yasir made a drifting run cutting past few defenders and found the striker with a short pass in the box, who found the net with neat tap making it 3-1 for Goans

Bardez also had a chance to reduce the margin in the 53rd minutes when Caitano Viegas sent a low cross to Shubham in the box but striker’s shot was brilliantly blocked by Iprotip Das.

At the other end, Bardez keeper Aliston came up with double save to deny Liston in a one-on-one situation. In between these, Aaren also had the chance to complete his hattrick Yasir made through pass to set up the striker with just keeper to beat but his lofted touch missed the target by a whisker.
