FC Bardez Goa thrash Guardian Angel in GPL


The Panthers have now won back-to-back games for the first time in over a month...

FC Bardez Goa thrashed Guardian Angel Sports Club 2-5 in the Goa Professional League match which was played at the Ambelim Ground earlier today.

FC Bardez Goa coach Armando Colaco made only one change to his squad as Richard Costa was out due to suspension Myron Mendes came into his place.

Both the teams started the game on a fantastic note but play was restricted to the midfield in the first ten minutes. However, It was FC Bardez Goa who drew first blood in the 15th minute as Peter passed the ball to Alesh Sawant. Goalkeeper Ram Sroop came rushing forward to collect the ball, but Alesh chipped the ball over the keeper to score. The Panthers came close to scoring the second of the day in the 24th minute as Alesh Sawant shot a screamer of a shot beating the keeper Ram but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. Guardian Angel got the equalizer in the 37th minute as an unmarked Nevil Soares got the ball from Yakubu Mohommoed. Nevil turned around and slotted the ball in the net. FC Bardez got the lead back just two minutes before half-time from an amazing set peace. Three men stood for the free-kick just outside the 18-yard box. Jessel ran past the ball. Alesh ran next passing the ball sideways to him with the wall distracted. Jessel got the ball and slotted it home to make it 1-2.

 FCBG had a lovely chance to extend their lead just before the hour mark as Peter Carvalho Alesh Sawant and Koko Sakibo had a tiki-taka moment just outside the box. Koko got the last touch but failed to finish the ball. FC Bardez had another shot on goal in the 69th minute as Alesh got the ball from a throw-in and struck a powerful effort, Ram Sroop stopped the ball but didn’t save it. Saviour Gama got to it and tried another shot but the keeper saved it again. The Panthers extended their lead in the 73rdminute as Latesh got the ball on the right flank and passed it to Peter Carvalho inside the 6-yard box. Peter cut past two defenders and shot the ball inside the nylons. FC Bardez made it 1-4 in the 84th minute of the match as Latesh Mandrekar sailed past the defender on the right lank and passed to Koko Sakibo who was lurking inside the box. Koko got the ball, adjusted himself and shot straight inside the net. Right at the end of stoppage time the Panthers made is 1-5 as both the substitutes were in action. Saviour Gama crossed in the ball and Chatur Naik was there to score. Guardian Angel got one back on 93 minutes as Rowilson Rodrigues failed to clear the ball. Perryson Rebello the attacker got the ball and scored past the keeper to make it 2-5.

FC Bardez Gaffer Armando Colaco said with a smile on his face, "My boys played well. We always play well. The only problem is we do not execute properly. I'm happy we scored five. We could have scored more."

With this win FC Bardez remain in 5th  position with 31 points with 19 games played and Guardian Angel SC remain on 6th position with 27 points from 19 games played.
