The Gaurs have recently replaced Brazilian legend Zico with Spanish tactician Sergio Lobera Rodriguez at the hot seat, and the Spaniard has made his first big signing. . .

Goan Indian Super League franchise FC Goa are set to unveil their first signing for the upcoming season on Friday. Sources close to Khel Now have informed that Sergio Lobera has signed a player who has played under Zico before. Bruno Filipe Tavares Pinheiro, commonly known as Bruno Pinheiro, is set to become the first foreign signing for the Gaurs in 2017.

Bruno is a lanky defensive midfielder, adept at playing at the two centre-back positions. His versatility would've been one of the major reasons why the team is putting their money on him again. Bruno played for the Gaurs in ISL 2014, the inaugural season, and made 14 appearances for the Zico's team.

Aged 29, Bruno brings with him 10 years of experience at the highest level, having played in the Portuguese Primeira Liga with Boavista and the Israeli Premier League with Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Haifa. The 1.85m tall man made 26 appearances last season for Hapoel, the club he last played for. Bruno also made an assist in the league.

Talking exclusively to Khel Now, the official said, "Bruno is set to come back for FC Goa. He was excellent in the first season and we wanted to continue his services in the next season but due to his some personal issues, he was not available. But now we are happy to welcome him back to the club."

Pinheiro is remembered for his infamous red card in the 1-1 draw against Atletico De Kolkata, the team which went on the win the first ISL title. Pinheiro will certainly add depth to the central midfield of FC Goa as the team look to regain the presence of Brazilian talisman Lucas Moura who led them to the finals in the second season.

FC Goa have underseen numerous changes recently with Churchill Brothers SC manager Derick Pereira being appointed as the Head of Youth Development and assistant manager of the first team. Alongside Pereira, the club had also unveiled Liston Colaco, Aaren D'Silva and Princeton Rebello for the development squad.

FC Goa endured a torrid season last term as the team lost 8 games to sit at the bottom of the table with 14 points in 14 games. ISL rivalries are set to grow as JSW Bengaluru and Tatas will enter the fray from this season.
