The voting process includes the national team captain, coach and a reputed media personality who pre-select their own top three players.

Megan Rapinoe, who captained the United States women's national team to their FIFA World Cup triumph, was honoured with the The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2019 award at a star-studded ceremony in Milan. Rapinoe, 34, had also won the Golden Ball in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2019, as she played a very crucial role in their success.

The voting for these awards involves votes from fans all across the world along with votes from the captain, coach and media representative of each and every FIFA member nation. The representatives can vote for the top three players in any order of their choice, as placing someone in first gives them five points followed by three points for being second and one point for being third.

Indian Women's national team captain Loitongbam Ashalata Devi voted for England's Lucy Bronze followed by Rapinoe and Lavelle Rose. She also voted for former USA Women's national team coach Ellis Jill for the The Best FIFA Women's Coach 2019, while Phil Neville and Gerhardsson Peter were second and third respectively in her ranking.

Indian head coach Maymol Rocky voted for Megan Rapinoe for the The Best FIFA Women's Player 2019, with Lucy Bronze in second and Australia's Samantha Kerr securing the third position in her rankings. Rocky voted for Ellis Jill for the The Best FIFA Women's Coach 2019, with Wiegman Sarina and Phil Neville securing second and third position respectively.

While Rapinoe made the headlines by bagging the The Best FIFA Women's Player 2019, her former coach Jill bagged the The Best FIFA Women's Coach 2019 for her illustrious stint with the Stars and Stripes before stepping down in July.
