A sneak peek into the betting world that's associated with India's first ever FIFA Tournament.

It was not just the Brazilian players; a thousand hearts broke at the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 when Brazil lost to England in the semifinals. Many even refused to watch the final which does not feature their favourite side. But, the satta world is busy as they set off for yet another big day for the final to be held in Kolkata on Saturday.

As England play Spain in the final of the U-17 FIFA World Cup in Kolkata on Saturday, the fixture which is a rematch of this year's European U17 Championship, where  Spain won on penalties, there is not much of difference in the odds in the satta market which has garnered some prominence in the world of betting.

England stand at 13 to 8 while Spain holds a slight edge as they are 29-20. In simple language, for every eight rupees bet, the punter will get Rs 13 in return (the odds 1.65) for England, while all those who favour Spain will get Rs 29 for every Rs 20 they bet (the odds 1.65).

With few hours to go for the clash, the Satta market is buzzing with activities. “We have seen some change, but I am sure if Brazil had been there, it would have been a much better day for us,” said one of the bookies. He went on to say, “The senior FIFA World Cup football does have the following in this part of the world, but under-17 has also made its presence in this league. We thank all the people concerned to get the game here in India”.

"Overall it is a different day in the office for us and we have never come across such movements, it is good, that Indians do have followers of this beautiful game," said another bookie, who also suggested that days are not far away for India to join the people from other parts of the world in having a closer look at this game. According to the bookie, Rs 300 crore have exchanged hands and there are possibilities the amount can be doubled as the game kicks off.

Like cricket, wherein the satta market sets off from the toss, football is not different as punters have also placed their money on who will win the toss, and who will score the first goal of the game. Spain stands tall in winning the toss and also scoring the first goal of the final. Money has been exchanged about the half-time score as well. Majority of the punters are of the opinion that the scoreline will be even while the odds for the half-time score is 13-10 in Spain’s favour, with England 15-10.

When the championship began, Brazil were the hot favourites, with Germany close behind them. England and Spain were the third and the fourth favourites according to the bookies.
