For us it is important to win the next match as it improves our chances to qualify for the semis-Zambrotta
The Delhi manager does not want his team to underestimate Goa...
Delhi Dynamos FC head coach Ginaluca Zambrotta is leaving nothing to chance as the Lions get ready to host FC Goa in their 2016 Hero Indian Super League encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday. With 17 points from 11 games, Delhi will definitely put one foot in the semis if they can do the double over the Gaurs tomorrow having won 2-0 in Fatorda earlier in the season.
Goa, on the other hand, are out of contention for the semis and on their current form, very few will put their money on them to beat the Lions in their own den. But Zambrotta, speaking to the media ahead of the game, insisted they weren’t taking Zico’s men lightly in any way.
“This is one of the most difficult matches for Delhi Dynamos and it will be a mistake to think it will be easy for us because Goa are presently bottom of the table. We don’t want to take it easy against them. I have told the players that they have got to remain focussed and it will be a difficult match and that it will be a game of high intensity,” the Italian told reporters on Saturday.
“Usually we take one match at a time and of course we playing at home, so for us it is important to win the next match against Goa as it improves our chances to qualify for the semis tremendously. We will prepare now for the match to win, so at the moment we will only focus on this match. We will talk about out next match later.”
Delhi by far has been the most entertaining team this season hitting the back of the net 21 times. Irrespective of leading or trailing, there hasn’t been any lack of intensity in their game. “You see, fighting spirit is very important for a team, and for the players it’s important to give 100%, and to have this attitude is great,” a proud 39-year-old Zambrotta said.
Zambrotta also said that qualifying for the semis was more important to him that finishing the league stage at the top. The World Cup winner also said he couldn’t inform for sure whether or not the injured Chinglensana Singh would feature in tomorrow’s game.
