Mohun Bagan romped to an authoritative 5-0 win over Churchill Brothers FC Goa in their third game of the I-League campaign at the Barasat Stadium) on Sunday.

The Kolkata giants moved to the top of the table as Aser Dipanda Dicka (34′,46′) scored a brace along with Ansumana Kromah (23′), Shaikh Faiaz (48′) and Sony Norde (84′) who were also on the scoresheet for the Green and Maroons.

Mohun Bagan gaffer Sanjoy Sen looked satisfied and relieved to be leading the points table. At the post-match press conference, he said, “A very satisfying win for me and for my boys. 5-star East Bengal outclass shoddy Shillong Lajong

Bagan suffered a total of four injuries in the game today at the Barasat turf. Yuta Kinowaki, Norde, Kromah and Arijit Bagui were the players sufferer. Regarding this issue, Sen looked a bit worried especially about the injuries to Kinowaki and Norde. “Yuta has dislocated his shoulder and will have a surgery tonight itself. It is very unfortunate. He will need almost two months to recover fully and in the interim, we have very important matches to play where I will surely miss him. Sony has suffered a groin strain and I don’t know the exact status of his injury. Arijit has a right ankle strain and Kromah too has a knee strain. I need to speak to the medical team before knowing the exact status of these players.”

On the other hand, Churchill Brothers coach Mykola Shevchenko looked very disappointed with his team’s show today. He said, “We were totally outplayed today. Our defence looked out of sorts. They were never in proper position as a defender should be during an attacking move. We are yet to open our account. So, I have warned the boys that its high time that they pull up their socks.”

The Mariners next face Shillong Lajong at the Salt Lake Stadium from 5:30 pm. on Wednesday, while Churchill will stay on in Kolkata to prepare themselves for their next fixture against East Bengal on 16th December at the Barasat Stadium from 5:30 pm.
