I-League clubs ask AIFF to make FIFA, AFC joint report on Indian football's roadmap, public
The clubs have given the apex body time till 30th July to comply with their latest demand.
On Friday, 26th July 2019, Minerva Punjab FC and five other I-League clubs wrote to AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das and the federation asking to share the report which was collectively prepared by AFC and FIFA to help AIFF on the potential roadmap for Indian football, which dates back to 2018. This came as a response to a letter sent by FIFA to the AIFF earlier this week, where FIFA asked India's apex body for an update on the implementation of this report and its progress.
The Letter referred above states:
[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]"Many of the elements under discussion are related to suggestions made in a joint FIFA and AFC report following an extensive consultation process in 2018. The report's objectives are among others, to provide the AIFF with external expertise and to support your federation and its stakeholders in establishing and implementing a widely-supported, robust medium to long-term strategy. As you know, the report is therefore a comprehensive review and professional proposal which also contains a series of clear and concrete recommendations for your further consideration.”
The I-League clubs’ union feels that as stakeholders of Indian football, it is imperative to be made aware of the suggestions that are described by AFC and FIFA in order to collectively develop football in India. The clubs have asked for this report at multiple occasions and have been denied access to it by AIFF. As major stakeholders in Indian football, the clubs again ask the AIFF to release this report by 30th July 2019.
