The Goan club will be looking to upset star-studded Bengaluru at Tilak Maidan...
Churchill Brothers coach Alfred Fernandes will be hopping from his side to continue the brilliant performance from the last match against DSK Shivajians, which helped them to earn their first point in the league when they will take on title favourites Bengaluru FC in the I-League match at Tilak Maidan, Vasco tomorrow.
The coach Fernandes looked optimistic in the pre-match media interaction ahead of the clash and said, “We are looking forward to our home match and they are coming from a loss while we are coming from a draw. So some positives are there and maybe their confidence can be low after that defeat,”
He further added saying, "From the last match, our confidence is very high because we came from a goal down and we nearly upset DSK Shivajians. In the last ten minutes, we were literally camping in their area. Sometimes luck has to be on your side. Hopefully, tomorrow luck will be on our side,”
However, Fernandes also knows that defeating Bengaluru will not be so easy and to do so they need to take some extra efforts.
“We have some tactical plans on how to contain them and since they are such a strong team with quality players, we have to come with something extra. I think now our team is gelling together and settling down. When we get our quality foreigners, I think our strike force will be strengthened,” Fernandes said.
The star-studded Bengaluru look stronger than the Goan club but the coach Fernandes denied that it will be an easy match for the visitors and said, “In football, anybody can win because we are playing with legs and not with the names. The intimidation factor does not count. We have been playing against the best teams and it is not intimidating.”
He further concluded saying, “We will play to our strength while their strength would be to come at us. Hopefully, we can infuse in our players that all the eleven players are stars because collective performance is important even though individual brilliance matters as well.”
