Indian football has a bright future-NorthEast United manager Vingada

The Highlanders boss spoke ahead of his ISL debut against Kerala Blasters…

NorthEast United FC Head Coach Nelo Viganda met the press ahead of his teams opening match tomorrow against Kerala Blasters in Guwahati.

Speaking about his team’s build-up to the new campaign Vingada said the team has had a productive fortnight at their home base, but he regretted the decision of the organizers not to allow his side to train under lights.

Talking about the unavailable players for tomorrow’s match the Spaniard rued their absence, but said his team is good enough to cope with the losses

Vingada who has a wealth of experience in Asian football, having last managed Hong Kong’s Kitchee FC, admitted that he’s still learning about the Indian game and was surprised by the amazing pool of talent in the country.

Considering the fact that his team has always been a good defensive side, he said his back four would be largely manned by foreigners, while the creative and forward positions would be open to Indian talent.

The tactician was very impressed with the Indian contingent at his disposal and lavished special praise on internationals, Seityasen Singh, Sumit Passi and Holicharan Narzary.

When asked whether he was concerned about the tournament’s packed schedule the manager responded assertively, “I am only focussed on the first match. My team is ready and we will take it game-by-game.”
