The 18-year-old will be be joining Jamshedpur FC in the upcoming season.

One of the best performers in India's King's Cup campaign in Thailand, Amarjit Singh Kiyam signed for Jamshedpur FC last season, however, will be joining the Men of Steel in the next season. Widely regarded as the next face of Indian football, Kiyam met in a conversation with Jamshedpur FC Media as his first interaction since signing for the Men of Steel. Here are the excerpts of the conversation.

1. Representing the national team at various levels, how was the feeling when you were called for the senior team preparatory camp and then picked up for the Kings Cup?

When my name was first included in the list of the Senior team, I could not express my joy with words. I was ecstatic because playing for Senior National Team has been always my dream. At that moment I realized I am very lucky that the coach has given me a chance.

During the camp, I gave my best, whatever I learned, on the ground in every minute I got.

2. How has been your experience with the Indian Arrows team?

Playing for Indian Arrows has been a great learning experience for me. I gained confidence, improved my game experience and game reading while at Arrows. In the leadership aspect too, I have improved a lot; how to maintain the unity of the team, how to fight back when we are losing, keep the players motivated when we are down. Playing in the I League we got to face senior players, experienced players of other top teams. This itself is a great opportunity for us to learn and grow.

I got much more game time playing for Arrows. My present age level requires an adequate amount of playing minutes. More matches are an advantage for my future development.

3. Share us some memories of playing the Under 17 World Cup.

The time when my parents and my family came far away from home to watch my first World Cup match live. Their support, hard work and enthusiasm towards me got partially rewarded watching me play live on the big stage.

Playing in front of 60,000 crowd was an enchanting experience. People shouting and cheering "India, India" from the stands boosted our confidence, inspired us to play at our best. It was really a heartwarming and an unforgettable moment in my footballing journey.

When Jeakson scored the first World Cup goal for India against Colombia it was a very huge moment for all of us. It will be treasured for a lifetime. The instant happiness and celebration of scoring a WC goal is incomparable.

4. What does the opportunity playing for Jamshedpur FC mean to you in the ISL?

Signing for Jamshedpur FC is indeed very lucky for me; I can say the decision has been my best choice so far. Although I signed a three-year contract, I was loaned back to Indian Arrows and still, they supported me and my family. I would like to show my gratitude for the same to the club.

And when my senior players asked me about my ISL club choice they appreciated my decision. They believed that Jamshedpur FC is the best place for young players like me and it encouraged me.

It’s great that I have joined Jamshedpur FC. When I was not playing for them, they still offered me support all the time and helped me whenever I asked. I would like to give my best on the ground, for JFC.

6. Any message to the fans of Jamshedpur FC.

First, I would like to thank each and every fan of JFC. I love you all very much. Even if I have not played for the club yet they love me, wish and support me on my matchday.
