The Delhi manager wants to top the table with victory in Mumbai...

Delhi Dynamos FC lock horns with Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena in a battle to finish top of the league stage of Hero Indian Super League 2016 on Saturday. The Dynamos head into the clash with 20 points from 13 games and trail Mumbai by two points.

Delhi will be looking to put behind memories of their 2-1 loss against NorthEast United FC in their last match and know that only a win will see them leapfrog Mumbai in the table.

Delhi head coach Gianluca Zambrotta admitted that even though his players will be going for a win in both sides’ last game of the league stage, the Lions will have to be a little careful with several players just being a booking away from an automatic one-match suspension ahead of the semis. “Of course, we will try to win tomorrow and we will try to top the table and I think it is the same case with the opponents and tomorrow let’s see what happens. We have to consider the situation regarding the yellow cards because of the semi-finals and we definitely are looking forward to the match day,” Zambrotta told reporters at the pre-match press conference.

Both teams have an abundance of attacking talent at their disposal even though Delhi’s star Marcelinho is set to miss the game due to an automatic suspension, but Zambrotta believes tomorrow’s game has all the makings of an exciting encounter. “I don’t know what will happen in the match but we would like to attack and score a lot of goals, and in tomorrow’s match if we play like we know, then we can give a good performance, and tomorrow will be an exciting and good match for both teams,” he said.

When asked if the loss against the Highlanders in their last game had taken away some of their momentum, Zambrotta said: “We analysed what went wrong in the last match and unfortunately against NorthEast we had very low intensity. We did well in the first half but the intensity was low in our play and we need to run better and defend better, and this will be a good attitude to have for the next match and the semi-finals.”

The FIFA World Cup-winning Italian also expressed his satisfaction at how his debut Hero ISL season had panned out thus far. ”We have done a very good job in this league till now and we are focussed on finishing the first part of the season well and then we will focus on the semi-finals,” Zambrotta said.

Commenting on the performance of Indian players within the Delhi ranks this season, Zambrotta said: “I am very happy regarding the Indian players and I will not talk about any specific players, and during the pre-season I did analyse my Indian players as per their performance. All the Indian players in Delhi Dynamos want to learn and that is a very good attitude to have, and I am very happy about it.”
