Barcelona fans ask Gerard Pique to call time on career
The defender produced a particularly poor performance in the Blaugrana's defeat to Leganes on Wednesday night.
In the midweek kick-off of La Liga, Barcelona stumbled to a 2-1 defeat to the 20th placed team CD Leganes. The Spanish giants took the lead with a fine goal from Philippe Coutinho and it seemed Ernesto Valverde's men were going to run amok after then.
The first half ended in a sublime performance by the guests and it looked an easy road for the Catalan club.
However, things didn’t go as planned in the second half, as two goals within 90 seconds from the hosts pushed Barca away from the win. Despite 35 minutes left on the clock, the Messi led team failed to equalise and were handed their first defeat of the season.
Looking at the bigger picture, Barcelona were poor on the field, far behind Leganes who were of great value for their win. They created history by defeating Barca for the first time ever and the crucial three points lifted them just outside of the relegation zone.
Thomas Vermaelen was abysmal, but one player who had a shockingly-bad game was that of Gerard Pique, and this certainly didn’t go unnoticed with Barca fans.

A lot of Blaugrana supporters took to social media after and during the match to slate the Spaniard, with there being a fair few shouts for the defender to “retire” as well.
Here are a few of those rants.
Pique should just do Barca a favor and retire. Any other centerback with this terrible form would not be playing every game

Also Kante is a great midfielder. They also need a replacement for Pique. It’s time for him to retire. #LeganesBarca

Pique just need to retire to the bench and we've got to stop using one directional Roberto over semedo.... Problem solved!
