Barcelona sending 'mixed messages' on Philippe Coutinho's future
The Brazilian has been unsettled at the Nou Camp amid reports of a return to the Premier League.
Philippe Coutinho's agent, Kia Joorabchian says that he is unsure on what Barcelona want to do with the Brazilian. Joorabchian was assured that the player would stay in Barcelona this transfer window at the very least.
However, he says that he was tipped off by a club representative that the player was being hawked to other clubs. "The information from Barcelona is rather mixed," Joorabchian said.
"We had a meeting last week with the president Josep Bartomeu and other directors, and they told us he was absolutely not for sale, that they have never spoken about the boy leaving, that they had never offered him to any club.
"Although there is a guy that works for them called Andre Cury (Barcelona's advisor in Brazil), who apparently has been touting him about - but the President has told us he is categorically not for sale."
"I have kept silent during this period, but I will not allow Barcelona to lie about the player. They must tell the truth and if they want Coutinho to leave, they have to say it."
"Then we will decide with the player what is best for his future."
The rumour mill has been grinding our that the Catalan giant's latest marquee signing, Antoine Griezmann is to be handed the number 7 jersey over Coutinho's desire. This fans flame of the way out for the attacking midfielder from Camp Nou.
When the question of which club would the Brazilian prefer if he were to leave the Barcelona pops up, Liverpool is a strong contender. The 27 year is still in the heart of the Kopites and is likely to be welcomed back with open hands if he were to return to Anfield.
[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]"I think Liverpool lies very, very deeply in his heart," Joorabchian said. "He was a big fan of them throughout the campaign last season.
"He was wishing for them to win the title and he has a very strong affinity there so I think it will be very difficult for him to go to a direct competitor of Liverpool from a personal standpoint."
