Malki S.C picks up their second win on the run as they beat Nangkiew Irat S.C by a solitary goal in the Gionee Shillong Premier League.

Timmy Ryngkhlem scores from close range in the 52nd minute to give Malki all three points...

The first half was an equally contested 45 minutes as neither of the teams outplayed the other. It was Malki however who looked more like the side to score as they looked the more confident team after their morale boosting victory in their last outing. Both the teams however were unable to test the goalkeepers and both the goalkeepers were hardly called into action. The first half ended scoreless with both the teams unable to find the cutting edge.

Nangkiew Irat came out the better side in the second half as their giant Nigerian striker Stephen Harry caused trouble for the Malki defenders with his height and Nangkiew Irat played to the strength of their tall striker. Malki however launched a surprise counter out of nothing in the 52nd minute and caught the Nangkiew Irat defence sleeping. Ebormi Buam brilliantly released Bantei Shylla on through for goal and Bantei was able to beat the onrushing keeper with his weak shot and though it did look like it was going in, Timmy Ryngkhlem made sure it hit the back of the net as he fired home from close range.. 52 minutes and the Nangkiew Irat team that had been so impressive in the second half found themselves behind.

The goal had its toll on the Nangkiew Irat players as they started getting nervier and Malki started seeing longer spells of possession as they looked for the security goal. Ebormi nearly gave them their second in the 65th minute when he unleashed a curling ball after some impressive footwork around the box but his effort just went wide.

Goalscorer Timmy Ryngkhlem vies for the ball with a Nangkiew Irat defender.

Nangkiew Irat were then presented the chance to salvage a point in the 89th minute when a silly back pass by one of the Malki defenders found two of the Nangkiew Irat players prowling in the box and if it wasn’t for the crucial intervention of the Malki goalkeeper, they would have shared the spoils. Nangkiew Irat had another chance to equalise in the last minute of normal time but Stephen Harry fired a free header over the crossbar.

Nangkiew Irat’s skipper, Dondor Rani then saw a straight red card for a cynical foul on Batskhem Tariang in injury time as Malki held on to their lead and took all three points from the game.
