Malki Sports Club too hot for Rangdajied United FC to handle
Malki had a stroll in the park as they outran outscored and outnumbered Rangdajied United FC to pick up a comprehensive 3-0 win in the Gionee Shillong Premier League...
Banshan Nongdhar gave Malki the lead in the 13th minute from what was a controversial penalty awarded by the referee for a handball. Timmy Ryngkhlem then added the second in 51st minute and Cameo Lamare came off the bench to round off the rout at injury time.
Malki started the better team with their midfield dominating the play in the middle of the park and their pacy wingers creating spaces on the flanks. Their smart exchange of balls and the pace in the team stretched the Rangdajied defence and earned them a penalty in the 13th minute for a handball inside the box. Banshan Nongdhar then coolly dispatched from the spot wrong footing the Rangdajied goalkeeper. Moments later Ebormi Buam failed to score an absolute sitter as his shot into in open net went over the crossbar. Rangdajied’s chances were limited to dead balls. They were awarded many free kicks from decent positions but couldn’t find a free kick specialist to dispatch them; many players took alternate turns with each kick no better than the previous one.
The second half started in the same fashion as Malki were the more dominant side and they doubled their lead in the 51st minute when Timmy Ryngkhlem’s half volley from the edge of the Rangdajied post beautifully skimmed pass the goalkeeper and into the net. Dibinroy Nongspung then missed a golden opportunity to score for Rangdajied as he chose to control a cross instead of hitting it first time, his touch let him down and the Malki defenders were able to clear. Ksankupar Khongmalai helped keep the score line more respectable for Rangdajied when he headed clear from the line in the 65th minute.
Banshan Nongdhar who was a constant thorn in the Rangdajied defence all afternoon got a chance to double his score in the 69th minute when Ebormi Buam’s free kick came off the crossbar and the rebound found him alone at an open goal with a simple tap in from just a yard out. Banshan however decided to add some style and jumped to take the shot but there was too much weight on his touch because of the elevation and the ball went over the crossbar. Rangdajied’s misery piled on when Ambilstar Sun was sent off for a second yellow card in the 75th minute.
Substitute Cameo Lamare who came in for Banshan at injury time provided the icing of the cake for Malki when he scored with his first touch with what was the last kick of the game.
It was an all round great performance by Malki who will be happy with the team performance but they do need to be finishing off chances the ugly way too as they missed two open goals because the players wanted the goals to be spectacular. Silly mistakes like these would cost them in big matches if they don’t address this. Rangdajied on the other hand had a strange afternoon as their inconsistent start of the season continues.
