The Guinean midfielder has been compared to former Portuguese international Deco over the years.

Former Gibraltar international Danny Higginbotham has glorified Liverpool new man Naby Keita by stating that the midfielder can add a new dimension to his club's attacking play this season.

The former Leipzig midfielder made a decent Premier League debut in Liverpool's 4-0 win over West Ham United. Higginbotham is of the belief that Keita can be used as a pivotal figure in Jurgen Klopp's tactics to break down deep-lying defences.

The former Southampton defenders felt that the Guinea international can draw opposition defenders away from his club's much-feared trident of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah.

Higginbotham told Sky Sports News, "It's brilliant watching him because I think a lot of people looked at Keita and thought he was a defensive midfielder. He's not, he's anything but that, he loves to get forward and he is a real threat."

"At times it is going to be difficult to unsettle back fours and actually get in behind them but he creates space for others. Where Keita comes into his own is that teams are pushed so far back that he can get in these areas [between the opposition defence and midfield]," he said.

"I think he is going to bring more to the attack than the defensive side and what he does is that he provides another dynamic. I think he's an outstanding signing," the 39-year-old added.

He further asserted, "I think what you'll find is that they'll defend with the four and give the license to the two full-backs to go forward. When they go forward, Keita is going to cause all kinds of problems and actually create more space for the likes of Mane, Firmino and Salah."

Keita came under the limelight for his impressive displays in the Bundesliga while playing for RB Leipzig. The 23-year old scored 14 goals in 58 Leipzig appearances and moved to the Anfield side for £57m.
