The Blues will host Leicester City on Sunday.

Frank Lampard did not have a dream start to his Chelsea managerial career after conceding two defeats. Their Premier League opener was a horror show after Manchester United beat them 4-0 at Old Trafford and later that week, they lost on penalties to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul.

The Blues legend insisted after the cup game that he was content with the performance of his team against the Reds but Tim Sherwood believes that Lampard is not being realistic.

Sherwood told the Kelly and Wrighty Show, "No. I think the Super Cup, yeah, possibly, they competed in that game. It’s alright starting a game well. As a manager, when you get beat 4-0, you can’t come out and say you played well. Impossible."

"People stop listening to you in the end. You have to take it on the chin, even if behind closed doors you can say there’s positives, you can say 'you did this well', 'you got this right' in team meetings."

"But at the end of the day you’ve got to win football matches and it’s a poor start for Frank."

Chelsea will take on former Premier League champions Leicester City at Stamford Bridge and the odds does not favour the Blues. Sherwood does not believe that Lampard will taste his first victory in the game and is not a big fan of the defence as well.

He continued, "Now this is a tough game, this is a tricky game. Tricky for a couple of reasons, because everyone expects them to win. The euphoria of Frank going back to Chelsea, his first game in charge back there [at Stamford Bridge].

"Leicester are a very, very difficult side, but the expectancy is still there with the Chelsea fans to roll them over and beat them. I think Leicester will win this football match, I really do. I’m not sure Chelsea’s defence are good enough at the moment."

He continued pointing out the problems at Chelsea with injury concerns and transfer ban making unfavourable conditions for Lampard.

"Rudiger needs to be back as soon as possible, Kurt Zouma’s not been good enough – in my eyes, he’s not good enough anyway, he’s never been good enough under anyone else’s eyes, I’m not sure he’s good enough under Frank Lampard’s eyes at the moment."

"And Christensen alongside him, that defensive partnership is crucial to any team, especially when you’re a big side and you’re expected to win football matches, and I don’t think that is strong enough at the moment."
