Prospective i-League clubs FC Bardez Goa, Minerva Academy FC and Chennai City FC have all outlined their respective roadmaps in a meeting with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) held earlier today.
Representatives from all three clubs made presentations to the I-League Bid Evaluation Committee at AIFF headquarters in the capital staking their claim to be one of the direct-entry corporate teams in the I-League next season.
During the meeting each club was given 15-20 minutes to make their case to a 3-man panel comprising of Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF, Subrata Dutt, Senior Vice-President, AIFF and Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League.. In the same the clubs outlined their vision to assist in the ongoing push for the growth and development of football in India, whilst also elaborating on their prospection grassroots development initiatives and community outreach programs.
Speaking after the discussions Das said, “"It's truly heartening to see these three clubs, that too from different states across the nation, showing their enthusiasm to play in the I-League. This actually highlights that we're heading towards a bright future of Indian football, involving every nook and corner of the country."
Contrary to popular belief that all three clubs have had their bids rejected, sources close to the developments have told Khel Now that the panel was impressed by all three submissions and has asked the clubs to re-submit their bids taking into account a few new technicalities. Once the process is completed the panel will meet again to deliver a decision. Final decision will be coming in the second week of December
It may be recalled that the AIFF had, a few months ago, invited bids for new direct-entry corporate teams to join the top flight next season as part of its restricting and expansion plans.
