The Blue Colts opened their account with a fine performance against the junior Gorkhalis.

India U-15 side registered their first victory of the 2019 U-15 SAFF Championships, after thumping 5-0 victory over Nepal U-15. The game saw Bibiano Fernandes’ men dominate in every department over the neighbouring nation and outclassing them with some solid individual performances.

There were many players that took the opportunity to represent India in their stride and came out in flying colours. Here are the player ratings from India’s winning performance against Nepal in their opening fixture of the U-15 SAFF Championships, played at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal.

INDIA

Aman Kumar Sahni - 6.0

The custodian was hardly tested by the opposition and was proactive in collecting any loose balls and commanded his area well.

Pritam Meetei - 6.5

The right-back showed good composure on the ball and covered spaces behind him well whenever the opposition wingers tried to exploit the gaps down the channels.

Paogoumang Singson - 7.0

It was a solid performance from both the center-backs on the day where they did not allow any breathing room to Nepalese attackers. Singson showed good quality when dealing with aerial balls and had a presence about him.

Anish Mazumder - 7.0

The captain scored the third goal on the stroke of half time with a towering header from a corner. Defensively, Anish showed maturity way beyond his years and showed impeccable leadership skills, keeping his defenders in positions and communicating with them well.

Amandeep - 6.0

The left-back took his time to settle on the ball after giving away possession cheaply on a few occasions in the initial stages of the game. His pace helped him contribute in both attacking and defensive fronts throughout the game.

Sibajit Singh - 6.5

Sibajit held his own in the middle of the park and helped his team transition from attack to defence smoothly. He was also proactive in covering any space and latching on loose balls to maintain possession.

Yoihenba Meitei - 7.0

Kerala Blasters prodigy, Yoihenba was instrumental in India’s dominance in the midfield. His industrious display saw him cover huge lengths of the field and showed composure when it mattered, especially in his ball distribution. A brilliant overall performance by the youngster.

Taison Singh - 7.5

Taison Singh scored India’s fourth goal on the day from a sublime free kick on the 51st minute mark and assisted the next for Sridarth with an accurate through pass. He was a nuisance for the opposition defenders for the whole duration that he was on the pitch before being substituted.

Shubho Paul - 7.5

Paul made the difference on the wing with his ability to run at defenders

Shubho Paul scored the second goal for his team on 23 minute mark after latching on a cross from the right and finishing calmly into the bottom left corner. The winger found plenty of chances to hurt the Nepalese defence due to his ability to make darting runs into the wider channels.

Sridarth Nongmeikapam - 8.0

The Manipur-born striker was a livewire in the attack and also scored the fifth goal for India after a good run behind the defensive line. His link-up play caused a lot of problems and his speed and tenacity make him an exciting prospect for the future.

Maheson Singh - 8.5

The attacking midfielder opened the scoring with a screamer from a long way out early in the game and assisted the second for Shubho Pal after drifting down the right flank and delivering an accurate cross for his teammate. Maheson was the star on the day, looked sharp and kept the ball rolling with crisp one touch passing.

Substitutions

Ratanbi Singh - 5.5

Came on as a substitute and put a good shift on the right wing, but needs to be more adventurous with the ball, as he opted for a safe back pass on many occasions.

Himanshu Jangra - 5.5

The attacker replaced Maheson and took his place as a pivot between the midfield and the attack. Tried to penetrate the opponent’s defences with his through balls but needs to be more careful in possession.

NEPAL

Manoj Dahal - 2.0

The goalkeeper was directly responsible for the majority of the goals and should have done better to keep the ball out of his net. A hugely disappointing display by the custodian where he looked way out of his depth.

Ajay Chaudhary - 3.5

The defender found it hard to cope with the speed of the attackers and needed to be more patient with the ball, as he gave away possession cheaply to the Indian forwards.

Jan Limbu - 4.0

Jan Limbu was the best performing defender on a day where the backline was all over the place. Despite his shortcomings, he was impressive in air and covered spaces when needed to.

Pramish Gurung - 2.5

The full-back started the game nervously, and faced plenty of problems from the nimble agent in Shubho Pal, as he failed to cover him for the second goal. He soon had to leave the field due to an injury.

Nitesh Shrestha - 3.0

The left-back was unable to deal with Taison’s pace and movement and was caught out of position several times. Needs to do a lot better to impress the gaffer.

Bipin Tumsing - 4.0

The midfielder was one of the few positive for the Nepal team where he showcased good passing range and the ability to read the gameplay. Needs to be more clinical with his marking.

Pradip Lamsal - 4.5

Lamsal was Nepal's most impressive player

The captain, Pradip Lamsal, had a long shot hit the crossbar in the dying stages of the game and probably looked the only threat to the Indian team. His vision and distribution were a few positives to take away.

Niranjan Malla - 3.5

Niranjan Malla was one of the players that looked like lacking fitness as he was not able to make a huge impact on the proceedings and was outplayed by the Indian midfielders.

Krish Sapkota - 3.5

Krish Sapkota tried to use his speed and creativity in order to cause some problems to the Indian backline but was easily dealt by Amandeep who showed brilliant covering and tackling skills.

Krisna Adhikari - 3.0

Krisna Adhikari could not trouble the opposition and looked like a frustrated figure at times due to the constant chasing of the ball the Nepalese strikers had to do. Lack of scoring opportunities and quality delivery made things worse for the forwards.

Sasank Bohra - 4.0

The forward showed good movement on occasions as he exploited space behind Indian backline, mainly in the first half. However, the lack of accurate through balls meant he could not affect the game the way he intended to.

Substitutions

Anil Chaulagai - 4.0

The left sided midfielder came off the bench and was expressive when in possession. His command over the ball was good but did not find trouble the impressive Pritam on the flank.

Roshan Thapa - 3.0

The full-back did not have a good outing as he was caught out of position and could not track the wingers, who easily were able to find spaces behind him. Needs to do better at reading the game.
