The difference between the two teams was the mentality-Materazzi
The Chennaiyin manager was pleased with a vital three points…
Breaking the jinx against the Highlanders, Chennaiyin FC edged past NorthEast United in a high voltage game of football last night in the Indian Super League in Guwahati with a solitary goal by their Italian striker Davide Succi.
Although the game was physical in many instances as it normally happens between these two teams, Chennaiyin boss Marco Materazzi refused to acknowledge the fact that his team outplayed the home side with their physicality.
“Baljit Sahni is not tall, Peluso is like a dwarf, of course and yes Raphael Augusto is a physical player, but he is also a very experienced one. What made the difference between both the teams tonight is the mentality, that’s all,” he said.
Coaching the Machans for the second time in a row, Materazzi believed that his team could have scored at least one more goal in the match.
“We could have scored another in the second half but it’s ok, we win and I am satisfied with the performances of my boys,” he commented.
On being asked whether his team missed the services of last season’s stars Elano and Stiven Mendoza, he refused to comment on the past.
“I don’t comment on the past, but yes of course every team wants Elano or a Mendoza in their team,” he concluded.
