The team showed good mentality - Trevor Morgan

The East Bengal coach was plaeased with his side's mntality as they fought off DSK's resistance to win 2-1...
Having already drawn the first game of the season, East Bengal needed to win last night, and they did just that. The Kolkata giants had been pegged back after taking an early lead at Balewadi. It was new signing Willis Plaza who scored the winner for EB, with a fantastic finish with 10 minutes left on the clock.
Trevor Morgan's side were the better side during the first half, and the Englishman seemed to be in agreement. "If one of the players in the diamond does not do their job, the system becomes something we don't want it to be. We were excellent in the first half, created good chances, 1v1 situations, we could have had another penalty too."
The second half proved to be a much closer affair, after the home side had got back on level terms through a scrappy rebound goal from defender Gouramangi Singh. "It was a poor goal to concede from the free-kick after Dave (Rogers) changed his team's formation to four at the back. But you can't afford to switch off in football and we did for those five minutes. The keeper had made a good save but they got the rebound in. Then Willis turns up and we knew he could finish like that."
The 60-year old felt it was crucial his side came back with all three points, after a disappointing draw on opening day. "Everyone expected us to get three points last week and we realised the importance of getting a win here tonight. It's harder to try to win the game than playing for a draw. That's what's expected of us and it comes with the job."
"We responded really well after they equalised. The team showed good mentality," he continued.
"It's good in a way (the quality that we have on the bench). I know Robin, of course, I have worked with him. But I'm still finding out with a lot of the new players, what they can do. It takes getting used to, playing in Kolkata. There are many things that come into consideration when they are settling in. And we are getting to know each other," said Morgan on the strength in depth his team possesses.
Finally, Morgan also had a couple of words of praise for his frontmen, stating, "Haokip did well. We've got another game in Goa in three days and so I took him since he has only trained with us for a week. Willis is dynamic. He can make things happen, he can get past people and socre. We have to get him into areas where he can hurt the opposition."
East Bengal travel to Goa now for a game against Churchill Brothers on Tuesday evening.
