Tomorrow is another different situation we have to be prepared and we are-Alexandre Guimaraes
The Mumbai boss wants his team to keep on improving after a good start to the season…
Mumbai City FC have started their Indian Super League campaign with an impressive two wins out of two beating rivals FC Pune City and NorthEast United to sit top of the table. Understandably, manager Alexandre Guimaraes was in confident mood when he met the press ahead of his team’s next match against Atletico de Kolkata at the Mumbai Football Arena tomorrow.
“We are all pleased with this start of the season of the season for us. There is a different feeling around the organization, amongst the fans. The other teams are watching and they know that is going to be a different season for Mumbai. But, we are in this environment where we play every 3-4 days. So, there is not much time to celebrate or to cry.”
Commenting on tomorrow’s opposition he said, “We have a game against a very good team with good players, a team that has kept its players from last season. It is going to be a tough game. We have to continue to play in our style, to be very focussed and aggressive, to be solid and compact in our defense and try to get a positive result. This is very important.”
When asked whether there were any specific areas that he wanted his side to improve on the Costa Rican said they could be more miserly at the back while they must continue to explore different ways of attacking and scoring goals.
These two teams have always produced goals and when quizzed on the kind of match he was expecting Guimaraes said he always wants his team to play a complete game. “But, sometimes when the game starts it is completely different. In the last match I had a plan B and C, but when the match started my ideas changed completely. But, the players have shown me that I have the resources to find a way. Tomorrow is another different situation. We have to be prepared and we are,” he explained.
The left hand side of defense was a particular concern for the Mumbaikars last time out as NEUFC’s Nicolas Velez and Emiliano Alfaro created several chances from that side and the manager admitted that the forays the visitors managed were mostly down to mistakes from his team.
