Kishore Kumar, CEO of Vedanta welcomed everyone. He urged that the need to put Goan football back on India’s map was there, and the league would help achieve just this in the coming years. He also welcomed the dignitaries on the dais; Chief Minister of Goa, Mr Manohar Parrikar, President of Goa Football Association Elvis Gomes, Juliana Gonsalves and Brahmanand Shankwalkar.

Chief Guest of the day, Mr Manohar Parrikar was delighted to see the Goa Football Association along with Vedanta organizing the Women’s league. He followed by saying that Sports Development shouldn’t be curtailed on the lines of politics. “We don’t see many Goan players representing the country, so we need to improve on our techniques, we need to improve on training,” said Parrikar, stating the need of change in tactics keeping sports in mind. “Football is my love, so I will definitely do a lot of things,” Parrikar said showing his concern for the beautiful game.

Elvis Gomes, President of Goa Football Association, had a few things to say. Firstly, he congratulated the ladies who were part of the Goan team that won the Nationals, 40 years ago. The good infrastructure that was made, needs to be put to proper use and if it isn’t used, then it is a complete waste,” said Elvis, speaking on the sports infrastructure not being used to its full potential.

Mr Manohar Parrikar later unveiled the league’s logo. Mr Parrikar also felicitated the ladies who were part of the state team; Perpetua Fernandes, Succorina Pereira, Sylviya D’souza, Philomena D’souza, Fatima Rodrigues, Juliana Gurjao and Ritina Pereira.
