We lost focus and conceded goals-Fernandes

The Goan coach promised a much-improved performance in the next match...
Churchill Brothers went down fighting to Mumbai FC as they lost 1-2 to the metropolis club in the I-League match played at Tilak Maidan, Vasco earlier today.
Churchill head coach Alfred Fernandes was upset as his side suffered second straight defeat in the league even after performing very well in the match.
"We started very well and took the early lead but after few minutes we lost focus especially in the midfield and also conceded a silly goal. We also started the second half very well as we had rectified our mistakes, but failed to put the ball in the back of the net." Fernandes said.
Churchill's Trinidadian striker Anthony Wolfe found it difficult to settle in the match and wasted many chances to score. The striker was especially lacking in his pace as the opposition defenders easily overlapped him and cleared the danger on many occasions but the coach tried to defend him and said “This was his first match and I am sure that in the future his performance will improve and he will score the goals. Some strikers take time to gel properly with a team and maybe he is one of them but in future matches, he will surely perform well.
When asked about his call on a controversial penalty awarded to Mumbai by the referee which was brilliantly saved by the Churchill keeper Priyant Singh, he was quite sarcastic while giving the reply and said, “I don’t want to say anything, you are in a better position to rate whether it was a penalty or not” but later he also said that “for me it was not but luckily my keeper saved it and I don’t have any issues with the referee as they are doing their job and I am doing mine.”
The Red Machines are yet to sign three more foreigners and coach Fernandes updated on the same saying, “The Asian player (Bektur Talgat) will reach on 16th of this month. I am not sure if he will be available for the next match but we will try to do his transfer work as soon as possible. Other two foreigners will be here only after next match.”
