We will fight and do our best-Zico
The Gaurs need to beat Kolkata at home to keep their slim playoffs hopes alive…
Zico will face Spanish coach Jose Molina when FC Goa host Atletico de Kolkata tonight at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa.
The Guars are in a must-win situation for the rest of their three remaining matches. However, coach Zico is aware of the situation and confident that his team will keep no stone unturned.
“Everyone is cautious here. We don’t have any other options, so we need to win all the matches now. We have to fight and do our best,” said Zico
The Brazilian coach believes that Kolkata are the better side but he also thinks that it will be difficult for the visitors to register a win in Goa this time and said, “They (ATK) are a very good team with great players and attacking mentality. They know that we need to win this match and they are going to exploit this. But we need to defend very well and win this match. We had a very nice game in Kolkata; we had so many chances to win there. We are going to repeat it here and won’t give any chance to Kolkata.”
Zico blamed the inability to convert chances and poor refereeing for their position in the league.
“In some games, we wasted so many chances to win the games. Even in the last match, we had very clear chances to score and to win the match. I repeat again, we could have at least five more points but the referee made mistakes. If this was avoided, we could have been in better position,” said the 63-year-old Brazilian.
When asked about whether this is the worst phase of his career he completely denied it and said, “When the club and fans are not believing in you, that is the time where you are in the bad phase of your career. Here in Goa, management, players, fans everyone believes in me. I am very happy here.”
