When we are not going to win we must not lose-Guimaraes

The Costa Rican assured that his team will score more goals…

Mumbai City FC managed to hold FC Goa to a goalless draw at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Goa and moved up to second in the Indian Super League standings.

Though the Costa Rican coach was happy with the result, a win here could have taken them to the top of the table.

“Both the coaches like to play attacking football. We came here to take away three points and we are going away with one point. So we are still there in the top four. When we are not going to win, we must not lose. It’s good the players understood that. This result is important today,” Guimaraes said.

India international striker Sunil Chhetri who was busy with Bengaluru FC for FC until recently joined the metro city outfit in the last two games. When asked focus on his performance, the Costa Rican coach said “I think he is doing fine and it is not easy to join the team and get synchronized with the other players’ movements straight away. So he is contributing and as we play more he is going to get better and he will score.”

Scoring goals is a major concern for the team in the ISL this season, but Guimaraes promised that his side will produce more goals in the coming matches.

“Unfortunately, sometimes it happens. Even 1-0 is good enough to get you maximum points. However, the kind of quality players that we have, the number of goals will soon be bigger,” he signed off.
