The Spaniard is looking forward to his team’s game with Mumbai…
Atletico de Kolkata got their Indian Super League season underway with a scrappy win against Kerala Blasters after a gritty draw with Chennaiyin FC in their opening game. Ahead of the game against Mumbai City FC Head Coach Jose Francisco Molina is keen to build on the win in their previous outing.
“We know we come to Mumbai. There are a strong team. They played two games and won two which is a great start. For us, we played two games and I think we are going in the right way. We want to win and hope to continue the same way. We have to play our football. Both teams have similar styles. I think it’s going to be an interesting game, a tough game.”
When asked whether he had any special plans for the opposition’s marquee player Diego Forlan who has made two match-winning contributions, Molina said he’s focussed on playing against the team, not against just one or two players. “We try to play the way we want. When you keep possession the defense becomes less important. But, of course you cannot keep the ball always. They have good players in attack, midfield and defense. We will defend against a team not against one or two individuals,” he asserted
When it was mentioned that ATK has more pace in attack than the Mumbai outfit the Spaniard said his team has a way of playing and try to play the same way irrespective of whether they are playing at home or away.
Mumbai have two clean sheets in two games but the ATK boss said he was confident his side could score on the night. “We know that it will be difficult to score. They are defending well. They have two clean sheets in two games. But, we have three goals in two games and we had chances to score more. We will try to attack. We will play in the same way. Of course we have to make sure that we take advantage our chances because will not have many.”
Molina also that he was happy with the performance of the Indian players and that always try to keep improving.
