I feel really good right now- Manuel Neuer upbeat and ready for the new season
The German shot-stopper and World Cup winner spoke to bundesliga.com ahead of the new season.
Having seen his game time curtailed due to multiple injuries over the past three years, Manuel Neuer is fit and raring to put the past behind him in a bid to make it back to his impregnable best.
Now 33, Neuer made 38 starts last season as Bayern celebrated winning another double.
Post the team's 1-0 win over AC Milan in the International Champions Cup, the serial Bundesliga winning goalkeeper spoke about his form and fitness and also had positive words for the mood in the Bavarians' camp ahead of the new season.
Speaking about the latest set of injuries that limited him to just 55 starts in the past three league campaigns, Neuer replied "I feel really good right now, I’m not in any pain and can take part in everything we're doing. I’m really looking forward to the new season."
The Gelsenkirchen native who swapped the Veltins Arena in Schalke for the Allianz Arena in Munich has gone onto win seven Bundesliga titles in a row including the historic treble in 2013-14.
Manuel Neuer: "The enthusiasm of the US fans was something else. We’re happy when football, the Bundesliga & our club are popular. We didn’t want to disappoint & wanted to give fans something back. So of course we were too happy to sign autographs and take photos" [Bundesliga] pic.twitter.com/FDeuCY3iqa

Neuer praised the incoming full-back duo of record signing Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard but was quick to point out the responsibilities that lay before them.
He added, "They have to prove they can take on leadership roles. We’ve also got to integrate the new players. That’s why it’s so important to have them on board for a trip like this one. It’s the only way they can get to know the club and the team spirit we already have." with reference to the departures of Franck Ribery, Mats Hummels and the retirement of Arjen Robben.
When asked about the other young goalkeepers in the "Die Roten" ranks, Neuer was quick to point out the uniqueness in the style of the individual goalkeepers stating, "The young keepers have the modern style in their blood, but everyone still plays very differently. No one is the same in terms of height, stature or athleticism. Ultimately, it’s a goalkeeper’s personality that is decisive."
