The match produced four red cards…

FC Bardez trounced Coprs of Signals as they registered a comfortable 2-0 win in the U-20 TACA League match played at the Corps Of Signals Ground, Navelim earlier today. The Bardez coach Climax Lawrence made some changes to the squad as he brought in Serineo Fernandes, Kirtikesh Gadekar and Latesh Mandrekar replacing Viraj Naik, Manjunath Rathord and Ronald Martins.hile, Corps of Signals Coach Praful Anish made no changes to his side which lost against Vasco SC in the last match. The first 10 minutes of the match were restricted to midfield play as both the teams tried to keep possession but Bardez came up with first attack when Saviour Gama found a well- placed Latesh in the box with a brilliant overhead pass, but the striker’s effort from close range sailed over the crossbar. Two minutes later Corps' Lallawmsanga tried his luck from distance but his powerful shot missed the target narrowly. Few minutes later, Corps keeper Stenjin. S came up with a brilliant save to deny Saviour's 30-yard free-kick. At the half hour mark Bardez got one more free-kick just outside the box. This time Saviour free kick deflected from wall to Ashley Cardozo who made no mistake to convert the same and sent Bardez players and coaching staff celebrating. The latter part of the first half saw the match restricted to the midfield again. Bardez came out more stronger in the second half and marched on the opponents’ area when defender Anil Chawan sent a grounder to Ronail Azavedo in the box, who without wasting any time blasted at the goal but Corps keeper Stenjin stood tall to stop the striker from scoring. There were violent scenes when Bardez's Cavin Soares and Corps' Lallawmsanga started fighting on the pitch. The referee intervened to pull them apart as both were shown red cards, but the fight went till the dressing room as both the teams got involved. After wasting almost 10 minutes, the match resumed and Brardez replied with a brilliant goal in the 73rd minute to keep the home supporters silent. Ashley Cardoz clinically finished the ball in the net after getting hold of a through ball from Latesh. The match became more interesting when Corps saw their keeper Stenjin sent off for a reckless tackle on Serineo just outside the box. Bardez could have made it 0-3 from the resulting free-kick, but Latesh saw his shot hit the post and go out. The drama was not over yet as the Bardez keeper brought down Ramengmanwia on the edge of the box, forcing the referee to show him a second yellow card and give him his marching orders. Even after lots of action on the pitch and also off it, Bardez Gaffer Climax Lawrence was happy with the result and said, "I am happy with the victory. The boys played well from the start till the end. Santosh simply took the red card. But the pointe were necessary and we got them."
