FC Bardez Goa set for Goa Pro League bow

The new outfit will play their first match in Goa’s top flight today…

FC Bardez Goa will make their debut in the Goa Pro League when they take on Salgaocar FC at the Duler Stadium today. Both teams will be keen to start the new season with a win. The two sides come into the game in buoyant mood. The Greens won the season curtain-raiser against Sporting Clube de Goa. Meanwhile Armando Colaco’s men lifted their maiden silverware in their first official tournament with their resounding success in the Goa Police Cup.

Jessel Carneiro vs Gilbert Oliveira Jessel Carnerior who plays for Bardez as a left-back is in good form and has formed a solid partnership with Rowilson Rodirigues. He will be up against the skipper of Salgoacar Gilbert Oliviera who played a crucial role to help his team to reach the Semi-Final of the GPC. Mirshad K Vs Liston Colaco, Souvik Das and Naro Hari Shrestha Mirshad K who will be between the sticks for the newcomers will be up against Liston Colaco, Souvik Das and Naro Hari Shrestha who form the strike for the Greens.. Mirshad is yet to concede a goal in his time with the club and the Salgaocar trio will be out to beat him on opening day. Former Salgaocar man Alesh Sawant who was one of Bardez’s stars in the last tournament spoke ahead of the season opener saying, ”They are a tough opponent for us but team spirit is what I believe in. The whole team enjoys football and is working hard in practice sessions and hard work automatically pays off. We started the Police Cup well and we won it. I’m really happy about that.” He also went on to praise Colaco saying that the experienced manager is friendly with the players and encourages them to give their best on the pitch in every game. “Of couse Salgaocar is a great team. I hope my boys continue the way they play. Winning and losing is part of the game.
