India midfielder Amarjit Singh Kiyam ruled out of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Oman, Qatar
The young midfielder has suffered a broken hand in training that will prevent him from taking the field for the Blue Tigers.
The Indian football team have been dealt a huge blow in their preparations for the crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Oman and Qatar, after it was reported that midfielder Amarjit Singh Kiyam has been ruled out of the games due to a broken hand. The severity of his injury is yet to be confirmed.
Kiyam has been one of the best performers since Igor Stimac took over the reins of the national team and has established himself as a regular starter under the new tactician, who holds him in high regard. He was exceptional in the King's Cup in Thailand and the Intercontinental Cup in July.
The former Indian Arrows captain is a crucial part of the Croatian’s newlook national team, where the emphasis is on playing possession-based football which requires building from the back. The youthful trio of Sahal Abdul Samad, Anirudh Thapa and Kiyam impressed a lot of fans with their defensive resilience and offensive capabilities, giving India’s midfield a more balanced shape.

The most likely replacements for the Jamshedpur FC midfielder seem to be either Rowlin Borges or Brandon Fernandes, but both of them are yet to impress on the big stage. The news acts as an added selection headache for Stimac, who must now adapt his squad and tactics in the absence of the midfielder.
