Lalawmpuia scored the brace for the Gaurs on Monday afternoon.
FC Goa registered a thumping 5-1 win over Bardez FC in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today.
Bardez had two changes to their side following a 3-1 defeat against Salgaocar FC in the last match as their coach Savio D’Souza brought in Kalaiyarasan and Sandip Ajay in the starting XI, whereas Princeton Rebello was back in the lineup after missing out in the last match win over Corps of Signals. Brian Faria and Hayden Fernandes were the other two changes in the Goans lineup.
Bardez made a dream start to the match as they took just five minutes to open the tally when Carl D,Souza made a defence-splitting through pass to Ong Lepcha who brilliantly beat the onrushing Goan keeper Shubham Dhas and finished the ball in the net making it 1-0 for his side.
A few minutes later, they had another chance to double their lead when Richard Cardoz curled the ball in the box but Lepcha made no effort to convert the easy chance.
At the other end, Goan had the best chance to level the terms in the 24th minutes when Kingslee Fernandes set up Lalawmpuia in the box with a brilliant through pass but the striker’s curling shot was brilliantly blocked by Bardez keeper Urgen Pintso. They had another chance in the 34th minute when Imran Khan found Lalhmangaihsanga with a perfect corner but the defender’s weak header was easily cleared by the Bardez custodian Urgen.
Goan regrouped at the halftime and came out all attacking from the start of the second session and took just two minutes to find the equaliser as Imran’s corner was brilliantly headed in by Brian to make it 1-1 for the junior Gaurs.
Goan took the lead in the 56th minutes when Nestor Dias intercepted a goal kick and found Lalawmpuia with a cutback who shot past Bardez keeper Urgen from inside the box making it 2-1.
Pumped up by two quick goals, Goan scored another within next three minutes as this time Lalawmpuia powerful shot from the top of the box entered the top corner making it second for the lad and third for his team.
The Junior Guars added two more goals in the dying minutes as first, Princeton danced past two defenders and drilled a powerful striker from just outside the box which hit the keeper’s hand before finishing in the back of the net.
Later in the added time, Goan midfielder Varun Mathur who had just came in as a substitute, also recorded his name on the scoresheet as he made a darting run on the wing and calmly finished the ball home from inside the box to make the final tally 5-1.
