Bardez lost their sixth straight match in the league.

Guardian Angel Sports Club hammered FC Bardez by 6-0 in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today.

With this win, Angels remained on 5th place with 20 points from 15 matches, while Bardez has 15 points from the same number of matches.

Bardez were in a poor form as they were without a win in last six matches. Panjim Footballers had defeated them in their last match, whereas, Angels were also going through the similar phase as they had lost their last three matches to Vasco SC, Salgaocar FC and Sporting Clube de Goa.

Micky Vaz and Stany Braganza were the two changes in the Bardez’s Starting Xi, while Angels coach Riston Rodrigues made no changes to his playing XI from the last match.

Angels midfielder Aniston Fernandes scored the fastest goal of the ongoing league as he took just 30 seconds after the kick-off to take his side into the lead when he shot past Bardez keeper David Chauhan from close, after getting a pass from Nicholas Rodrigues.

A few minutes later, Bardez also had a chance when Clinton Niasso’s goalbound free-kick was entering the far post but Angels keeper Ram Sroop came with a diving save to push it for a corner. Ten minutes later, Bardez wasted another opportunity when Shubham Rao Desai found Clinton in the box with a perfect cross in the box but the forward shot wide.

At the other end, Angels doubled their lead through Nigerian strike force Yakubu Mohammed as the striker easily beat the keeper David with a smart header from close off Nicholas’ cross from the left.

Bardez came with another swift attack on the rivals but this time Clinton saw his powerful strike from just outside the box rebounded off the crossbar.

Meanwhile, Cliffton Dias made it 3-0 for the Angels in the 41st minutes when he made an easy tap-in from point-blank range after Bardez defender failed to clear Yakubu’s low cross in the box as the South Goan club entered the dressing room with a comfortable three-goal lead at the half-time.

On changing the sides, Clinton wasted another opportunity to reduce the margin for the Pink Brigade when he tapped wide from outside the box with Angels keeper Ram completely out of his position.

A minute later, Yakubu completed his brace when he nicely jelled up with Aniston outside the box and tapped in from close to make it 4-0 for the Curchorem based club. A few minute later, Angels defender Nicolau Colaco tried his luck from the distance but his sparkling shot hit the crossbar before going out for a goal-kick.
