Guardian Angel Sports Club breezed past Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao as they registered an easy 4-0 win in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today. The Guardian Angels have experienced mixed form at the start of the season losing one, drawing one and winning their last match against Vasco SCC ,While CSM Taleigao were yet to register a win in the league. Their best result so far was against Dempo SC , where they managed a 1-1 draw. The Taleigao coach made three changes to his side which lost 4-2 against Vasco SC in their last league match as Ramesh Palkar, Gourav Kankonkar and Nikhil Naik were back in the starting XI. Gaurish Naik was the only change fo ther Savordem side. The Curchorem side took the lead in the very 2nd minute when Rahul blasted the ball in the back of the opposition’s nylons off Nicholas Rodrigues’ curling free-kick from the right flank. Two minutes later they had a chance to double their lead but the Taleigao keeper came up with a brilliant save to deny Ghanaian Yakubu Mohammed’s effort from the edge of the box. In the 22nd minute Guardian got another chance to increase their lead when Mickey Fernandes dribbled past four defenders before passing it to unmarked Snedden Rodrigues in the box, but the U-20 striker’s shot was blocked by the Taleigao keeper. On the half hour mark the Guardian tactician introduced Lavino Fernandes, replacing Snedden. Just a minute after coming in, he gelled up with Yakubu for a one-two in the box before blasting the ball home from close to make it 2-0 for Guardian. In the added time of the first half Taleigao had a chance to reduce the deficit but Gautam Dias missed a sitter after receiving a cross from Salu Santos. Guardian Angel were still in attacking mode after the break as they marched on the opponent’s danger area three times in the first ten minutes but every time failed. First, Rahul Kumar’s header was off target in the 53rd minute. Then Yakubu’s bicycle kick was wide from inside the box. Later Perryson Rebello’s shot hit the woodwork off Nicholas’ superb cross. Taleigao almost pulled a goal back in the 59th minute when Gourav Kankonkar found Salu Santos in the centre of the Guardian defense, but his tap in was cleared off the goal line by defender Benzu Clemente for a corner. Guardian inflated their lead in the 65th minute, when Medio Djourou Isaac Ouedji set up Yakubu just inside the penalty box, who made no mistake to bash the ball home. Seven minutes before the final whistle Noichols made it 4-0 for the Curchorem side, when his 30-yard scorching shot beat the diving goalkeeper and finished in the net. Few minutes later Perryson’s shot from inside the box was pushed for a corner by the Taleigao shot-stopper. Guardian Angel dominated the entire match with superb passing and excellent moves in the opposition box. Mickey was outstanding in the Guardian defense, while Nicholas made some good moves on the wings. “This was a very important victory for us to catch up with the other teams because they have already played six matches. We deserved to win today,” said Guardian tactician Riston Rodrigues. With today’s win Guardian Angel moved one place up to 7th with same number of points having played two matches fewer than the other teams, while Clube Sao Miguel de Talegao are bottom of the table with just 1 point in their basket.Report by Khel Now Correspondent Ravish Narvekar from Goa .
