The FC Goa boss is confident his side will bounce back from their opening defeat against the Highlanders…
Brazilian legend Zico will face Spanish coach Miguel Martinez Gonzalez who will be in a charge of FC Pune City in the absence of their Head Coach Antonio López Habas when FC Goa host the Punekars tonight at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Stadium Fatorda. Goa started their campaign last Tuesday with a defeat against NorthEast United FC in Guwahati. Despite the defeat, Zico was happy with the team’s performance in the last match. “I think we played well. We tried our best, we fought but we couldn’t overcome them. This is just the beginning of the league. The first year too we started the league with a defeat but later we overcame it. We have to keep going to work on that,” He also mentioned that he still trusts goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani saying “He has a lot of experience with us from the last two years. We have been playing together and when we lose, everyone loses. It is not the fault of one person,” When asked about his plans for the next match against Pune, he stated, “I am not going to change my philosophy because of the loss, the day I will change my philosophy I will stop coaching.” He further added “It does not matter whether you play at home or away, the more important thing is to win that match.” Zico is one of the most consistent managers in the Indian Super league as under his guidance FC Goa were semifinalists in the first season, while they finished runners-up in the last edition of the league. The Brazilian coach will be looking to win tonight’s clash in the presence of home fans who will be out in large numbers to support the Guars, despite the huge hike in the ticket prices.
