Minerva Punjab appoint former India coach Sukhwinder Singh as Technical Director
The veteran tactician has prior experience of winning the National Football League (NFL) with JCT.
I-League champions Minerva Punjab FC have appointed former JCT, Churchill Brothers and India head coach Sukhwinder Singh as the Technical Director for the upcoming season.
The Mohali based club who are gearing up to defend their Hero I-League title are also set to represent India in the upcoming AFC Cup tournament having left no stone unturned as they have managed to rope in several domestic talents as well as overseas in Yu Kuboki from Australia's Sydney Olympic FC.
Sukhwinder Singh is a household name in Punjab and Indian Football having guided JCT to a famous National Football League (now I-League) win in 1996-97 and having managing teams like Pailan Arrows, Churchill Brothers etc. The veteran tactician's notable achievements include the SAFF Cup 1998 win with the Indian Senior Team and the SAFF Cup 2009 win with the India U-23 team.
Minerva Punjab FC Owner & Director Ranjit Bajaj who is a firm believer in the capability of Singh was quoted saying, "Instead of bringing foreign coaches we should actually get people who have been involved with Indian football."

"He has been overlooked for a long time but he has still so much to give to Indian football. We are happy that Sukhi Sir has agreed to come onboard," Bajaj added.

Minerva is a much-needed boost, it was necessary for Punjab football. It will motivate the boys in the state to do well as they now have a platform to prove themselves,".
Born in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, Sukhwinder Singh is a vital addition in the Minerva Punjab FC's management and would shoulder the responsibility of building up a competitive team to defend the Hero I-League title and AFC Cup challenge. The 69-year-old will jointly work with current technical director Surinder Singh and Coach Sachin Badadhe.
