Mohammedan continue winning rhythm, edge past Chennaiyin reserves
The Black Panthers have now won two consecutive games to kick off their campaign.
The Chennaiyin FC 'B' team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Mohammedan Sporting in a Second Division League fixture at the Barasat Stadium here today. It was another challenging afternoon that provided a learning curve for the CFC 'B' team that made three changes from their 2-1 opening game defeat to Langsning FC. Joseph Lalsanglura, B. Rohmingthanga and Joysana Singh came into the starting eleven in place of Lalliansanga Renthlei, Zonunmawia and Aman Chetri.
Chennaiyin 'B' engaged in good build-up play in the first few minutes with Ajin Tom in the thick of things but they didn't create any clear cut chances. Sporting then took control of the game and brought some good saves out of CFC ‘B’ keeper Samik Mitra.
But Samik couldn't stop Sporting from opening the lead on 26 minutes courtesy a header from Prohlad Roy. Shortly after, the CFC keeper had to be replaced for an injury suffered after a collision with a Sporting player.

The home team continued to dominate after the CFC change and doubled their lead before half-time through Tirthankar Sarkar's free-kick that substitute keeper Lakshman S. couldn't keep out.

It was soon 3-0 through Prohlad‘s looping effort over the CFC custodian before Ankit Mukherjee added one more on 74 minutes to take Sporting to a 4-0 finish.
The result succumbed Chennaiyin FC ‘B’ to a second consecutive loss but also provided rich exposure for the youngsters involved. They will be looking to do better against the Jamshedpur FC reserves in their next match on Friday 23rd March, 2018 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.
