Hindustan FC outclass Delhi United in I-League Second Division's Capital Derby
Kushant Singh scored a brace for his team in the big game.
Hindustan Football Club underlined their class thrashing Delhi United 4-2 in an I-League Second Division match played at Ambedkar Stadium earlier.
Delhi United threatened to open the scoring as early as in the 2nd minute of the match but sent the ball wide instead. However, the first goal came for the home team against the run of play in the 12th minute of the game when an exquisite long pass from the back found forward Kushant Singh in the opposition box and he did well to send the ball through the legs of the Delhi United FC goalkeeper.
It took less than two minutes for Hindustan to double their lead as Kushant scored his second with a delicate one-touch finish from a long ball. Delhi United looked to reduce the deficit with some attacking play but were not able to get the ball through Hindustan’s solid defence led by captain Pushpender Kundu. Defender Utkarsh Kaushik added more misery to Delhi when he scored the third goal for his team in the 32nd minute, courtesy some brilliant dribbling skills through the right flank by Thomyo. L. Shimray.

Three minutes later Delhi let go of an easy opportunity to make an early comeback as Rungsing Muinao failed to send home an easy tap-in opportunity. Hindustan could have sealed the match in the 40th minute with another goal but Delhi goalkeeper Gursimrat Singh made an excellent save from a dangerous free-kick by Thomyo Shimray just outside the penalty box.
Delhi got one back just before the end of the first half from the penalty spot after Hindustan defender Shailesh Kumar Maurya committed an expensive foul inside the box just in front of the referee. The resulting penalty was scored by Rungsing as he successfully tricked the opposition goalkeeper to go the wrong way.

However, it took Hindustan just eight minutes to get proper hold of the match when Thomyo Shimray found himself in the right place to put the rebound inside the net in the 53rd minute to make the score 4-1.
Defensive midfielder Nikhil Gehlot dictated Hindustan’s play throughout the match before being substituted in the last minute. Substitute Sunny Varun Thakur pulled one back for the Delhi team in the 75th minute but it was a little too late for an unlikely comeback.
