Debashis Dutta and Srinjoy Basu face action for using derogatory language against the governing body...
The Indian Football Association (IFA) has issued showcause notices to two Mohun Bagan officials. Finance Secretary Debashis Dutta and Assistant Secretary Srinjoy Basu are the duo facing the ire of West Bengal football's governing body. Today in the league sub-committee IFA officials were supposed to decide Bagan's fate for skipping the Kolkata Derby in the Calcutta Football League. But it was kept on hold as they decided to take that call after the CFL campaign ends. Meanwhile, they have served showcause notices to Dutta and Basu for continuously using foul language against the IFA during the recent controversy following the abandoned game against Tollygunge Agragami. The duo kept on using derogatory language in the media which was a violation of the IFA's code of conduct. The letter will be handed over to them by next Monday or Tuesday and they will have seven days to respond. Dutta was unavailable for comment on this issue. But Srinjoy Basu said, "I won't comment on anything which I have heard from the media. Lets have the official letter in hand and then I will say if I have anything to say. I will discuss with the executive committee too before answering the showcause letter." On the other hand, the IFA has officially awarded three points to East Bengal for Mohun Bagan's withdrawal from the derby. Thus, EB finishes the season with a perfect record in the CFL collecting 30 points from 10 games.Report by Khel Now Correspondent Rony. Sports passionate and content writer.
