The game will help the Blue Tigers prepare for their upcoming FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Bangladesh next week.

NorthEast United FC will face the Indian National Team in a friendly match in preparation for the upcoming Hero Indian Super League 2019-20. The match will take place at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium Guwahati on Wednesday, the 9th of October with kick off scheduled at 7.30 PM. The match will be open for all.

The Indian National Team is in Guwahati for their preparation camp ahead of their FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Bangladesh on 15th of October and it’ll be the first time in history that they will play a friendly against an Indian Super League club.

Talking about the friendly NorthEast United FC’s head coach Robert Jarni said, “It’s a great opportunity for us to play the Indian National Team before we begin our season. I am sure it will be a fantastic match and will help both sides prepare for the upcoming fixtures.”

Calling the Indian Football Team fans to fill up the stadium, the head coach Igor Stimac urged to fill up the Salt Lake stadium a couple of days ago. He said, "I hope that Yuva Bharati Krirangan will be packed, and our supporters in Kolkata will push our players all the way through to the first victory in qualifiers."

“The Bangladesh game is going to be very different from the last one against Qatar. We need all our players to be fully fit, and ready to play as per our plan,” Stimac added.

Earlier on Wednesday, news broke as Rahul Bheke ruled out of India’s game against Bangladesh with an injury. Although there was no announcement of a replacement, it is expected that either of Pritam Kotal or Nishu Kumar will be taking up the mantle from Bheke, who has now quit the preparation camp in Guwahati.
