The Spanish tactician expressed his emotions on missing Erik Paartula and his satisfaction with Kuruniyan's performance.

Bengaluru FC manager Carles Cuadrat seemed to be in a positive mood while meeting the press after the game, despite what can be seen as two points dropped at home from Bengaluru’s perspective. Bengaluru and NorthEast United played out a 0-0 draw at the Kanteerava Stadium in heavy rain. Both sides came very close to scoring, but neither could break the deadlock, as rain had a good amount of impact on the quality of the play on the field.

Speaking to the press after the match, Carles Cuadrat explained his choices for the clash.

“We have been working the pre-season, we have tried different things. We have lost Erik (Paartalu) and Albert Serran because they were injured. We know before the game that both were big miss for us in that kind of game because the opponent is a very physical opponent and the pitch with the rain has become a very physical demand for the players. So, we try to be safe in that kind of circumstances.”

The Bengaluru manager further added that he was happy with both his players' performances and his tactics.

“I have to say that I’m very happy with my players because from the first moment they have been going for the victory and our tactics have worked on the pitch. It was quite risky with both Ashique (Kuruniyan) and Nishu (Kumar) in both sides because they are really young. But, they understand really well the plan and I think that we have not been suffering during all the game. We have been creating a lot of chances.”

On his decision to play Ashique on the left

“We know the skills of the player. He is very fast and he is also a very good runner with a lot of meters. So, he has created a lot of chances, first half, second half. He arrives from behind and when a player arrives from behind it is not so easy to get him.”

The Spaniard had positive things to say about the performance of new arrival Raphael Augusto

“I think that he was doing well. He was creating a lot of dangerous situations for the other team and he was assisting very well to our wingers. So, I am very happy for what he has been doing in the system that we have been playing today.”

On the absence of Eric Paartalu

“Of course Eric is a player that we trust a lot. Because he was not there, we went for different kind of solutions. But again, I am happy with the performance of my players.”

Lastly, he had good news for the Bengaluru fans, as he announced that Spanish centre-back Albert Serran should be back for the next match. But, he also informed that defensive midfielder Paartalu could be out for a couple of weeks.

Bengaluru FC's next game is against FC Goa away from home on the 28th of October.
