ISL 2019-20 FC Goa0-1 Jamshedpur FC

17' Sergio Castel Read Full Match Report - Sergio Castel strike sees Jamshedpur stun Goa to return to winning ways Read Indian Player Ratings - FC Goa Vs Jamshedpur FC Ratings: Narender, Robin Gurung excel in win Read Sergio Lobera's Post Match Press Conference - Sergio Lobera: I can tell you that I’m very proud of my players Read Antonio Iriondo's Post Match Press Conference - Antonio Iriondo: We are very happy and proud of the result Jamshedpur FC have pulled off a real upset here and have toppled the Gaurs with an unlikely win courtesy of an inspired performance by Sergio Castel who deservedly also got them the winner in the first half. A disciplined showing from the Jamshedpur boys sees them break Goa's record of home wins that stretched more than a year to the day. Goa had chances but were woeful in the final third. Jahouh's sending off in the second half also didn't help matters as the visitors go out deservedly with three massive points and climb to second spot behind ATK. Iriondo would be very pleased with his side's performance and their reaction to the previous game. It's back to the drawing board though for Sergio Lobera whose side have their first defeat of the season against a team which had won only one out of their previous 11 away games but were excellent today both in attack as well as (particularly in) defence.   THE REFEREE BLOWS THE FULL-TIME WHISTLE AT FATORDA. THE HOME TEAM FALL TO THE MEN OF STEEL 90+6' Probably the last chance as Goa win a corner. The Goa fans are vociferous and that must be that. 90+5' Goa are throwing men ahead in their pursuit of an equaliser. Jamshedpur are defending this lead with some spirited defending. Fall comes close with a header but it is comfortable enough for Pal to catch. Just a few more moments for the Men of Steel to hold on 90+3' Goa make their final change as Edu Bedia is taken off for Liston Colaco 90' Jamshedpur are happy keeping the ball rather than carry it forward as the brilliant Sergio Castel wins a throw-in off Fernandes. Added time is six minutes. Jamshedpur will look to hold onto this lead. Six ling minutes for the visitors, six short ones for Goa. It's that close. 86' The fans of the home team are trying their best to push their team on but Jamshedpur are proving good value to their lead. The Men of Steel make their final switch of the game as Robin Gurung goes out with Lourenco coming on. 82'  Jamshedpur are on the verge of a brilliant result here in Goa. They have clung on to the lead well and have defended with great aplomb. They have certainly improved since their defeat to ATK last time out. But the job is not done yet, and you certainly can count this Goa side out at any point in the game. 80' Goa make a change taking out Mandar Rao Desai for Princeton Rebello 75' FC Goa have scored a goal after the 75th minute in every game this season and they need it now more than ever. But they have met their match so far against this Jamshedpur side who look very disciplined in their performance. Final 15 minutes at Fatorda. 72' RED CARD FOR GOA. Nothing is going right at the moment for Goa as they are a goal down and now a man down as well. Jahouh is given the marching orders by referee Venkatesh for a silly challenge on Acosta. More problems now for coach Lobera. 70' Acosta follows his captain and Jitendra Singh into the referee's book as the Jamshedpur winger is shown a yellow for not maintaining the required distance away from the Goa free-kick. 69' FC Goa are currently getting pushed back into their own half and are in increasing danger of breaking their win streak at home which stretches for over a year. They last lost a home game a year ago against Bengaluru. They are in danger of losing their unbeaten record in this season as well. 66' The home team make their first substitution with Lenny Rodrigues making way for Saviour Gama 65' Jahouh fouls Gurung in the Goa box. He must be careful as he is already on a yellow which the Jamshedpur players are reiterating to the referee. Free-kick for Jamshedpur 63' The visitors make their second change of the game replacing Mobashir Rahman for CK Vineeth 61' Jackichand has a shot at goal but blazes it over the bar. His teammates aren't happy with that and perhaps wanted him to square it back in. Could've been a better choice 56' Goa are being kept at an arm's length despite having 62% possession with some last-ditch defending from the Men of Steel who are staying true to their title in defence today. 53' Jamshedpur captain Tiri is shown a yellow for a shove on Edu Bedia He's the second Jamshedpur player to get booked today 52' Goa have started the second half strongly and are proving to be a handful for the Jamshedpur defence. Jackichand, in particular, has been troubling down the right-wing. Jamshedpur are holding on at the moment. 49' An opportunity for Jamshedpur as Passi floats a low cross beyond the Goan defence but Seriton Fernandes is at the right place to clear it out for a corner. Vineeth should've been getting to that one. 48' Goa come close on goal with a dangerously low cross from Jackichand is cleared away in the skirmish between the Jamshedpur defenders and Manvir Singh Jamshedpur make a half-time switch as Sumeet Passi comes on for Farukh Chowdhary SECOND HALF BEGINS AT FATORDA WITH THE HOME TEAM KICKING US OFF.  It has been an entertaining half here in Fatorda as the two teams head into the tunnel for a break. They have toiled hard in sultry conditions. That half has had everything from attempts to great saves and also some abject refereeing. But most importantly for the visitors, they have the goal to their name which matters the most courtesy of their talismanic striker Sergio Castel who notched up his fourth strike of the season. Goa came close on goal and had a contentious shot on goal ruled out. It promises to be an enthralling second-half as both teams will resume their quest for three points or rather look to settle for a point.  HALF-TIME AT FATORDA AS THE REFEREE BLOWS THE WHISTLE 45+2' Seriton Fernandes is penalized with a yellow for a needless foul on Tiri. Goa have come close in these last few minutes but Jamshedpur have held on well so far. 45' Gurung hits another one of his pinpoint crosses but Nawaz punches clear despite the challenging presence of Farukh. The referee announces the addition of two minutes 43' Was that a goal? FC Goa have a shot on goal from Edu Bedia which Subrata Pal saves and they clear eventually. FC Goa players claim for a goal, and replays do suggest that that the ball might have crossed the line during Pal's save. This one is sure to stir up a debate 37' The home team have had some half-chances but are unable to come up with something substantial for their efforts. Jamshedpur, on the other hand, look dangerous whenever they attack the Goa goal. Some issues at the moment for Goa coach Lobera to address at the half-time team talk, but his Jamshedpur counterpart Iriondo will be happy with the way his team have been playing  so far 34' Jamshedpur come close on goal as Sergio Castel is once again in the thick of the action. He bolted a low cross towards CK Vineeth who buckled his shot over with a challenge in from a Goa defender. 32' Goa get their chance on the right-wing but Jackichand drags his shot wide of the goal. 24' That's terrible! A bad decision from the referee as he gives FC Goa a free-kick just outside the Jamshedpur box. Clearly there was no ill-contact from the defender and Bedia clearly simulated it. It should have been the other way around. 23' It has been a highly competitive game so far with both sets of players giving it everything and having an equal share in the spoils. But Jamshedpur have the goal that matters at the moment. 20' Goa come back on the attack and have their effort at goal deflected out from Tiri for a corner. They have been testing but haven't really troubled Jamshedpur's goal as we expect them to. 17' GOAL!!!! That is a brilliant finish from Sergio Castel to give Jamshedpur the lead. The visitors are ahead with a cool finish from their no 9 as he dabbles past Fall and slots it easily past Nawaz. A fine goal. Jamshedpur have started strongly here and that goal would give them a lot of confidence.  16' Goa look sharp on the attack with some quick counters and intricate passing. Only the final delivery beckons for the Gaurs and they look good value for their efforts so far. It's been a game that has flowed to-and-fro 13' Chance!! Jamshedpur have a shot at goal. A great cross from Gurung finds CK Vineeth on the opposite wing but the striker's attempted acrobatic shot goes wayward. 11' This game has started fast with chances and yellow cards coming out. Both teams fighting tooth-and-nail to get themselves on goal. Goa have created the chances but haven't really tested Subrata Pal. Jamshedpur look stable in possession. 9' Jitendra Singh is shown the yellow for the foul on Bedia despite no clear contact. Not a very good decision there from the referee. 7' Goa create the first clear chance of the game as Jackichand's shot is saved well by Pal. The rebound is scuffed by Rodrigues and the keeper pouches it comfortably. 5' Jahouh is the first player to get booked today for a foul on Acosta. It's his second yellow this season. 3' Jamshedpur have had the majority of possession but have nothing incisive to show for their effort in the opening minutes apart from a testing cross from Gurung which was snuffed up easily by the Goa keeper. Both teams looking to settle into the game and slowly getting at it. 7:28 PM: We are moments away from kick-off as both teams are out on the pitch. We are done with the National Anthem. The visitors play in their blue strip today as Goa opt for their orange kit. 7:22 PM: Jamshedpur are a point behind Goa in the ISL standings, but a win today will take them into second place behind ATK. 7:15 PM: Both managers have emphasized their intent on playing good football over winning. If their intent is evident in today's gameplay then we can be witness to plenty of goals and some highly competitive football from both sets of players. 7:06 PM: The Gaurs have been a formidable force this season and are one of only three teams to remain undefeated so far in this campaign. They have the chance today and the personnel to continue that record but face a Jamshedpur team fresh and ready for the challenge. It proves to be an exciting contest between these two teams, hopefully as enthralling as yesterday. 7:00 PM: Both the teams are coming on the back of contrasting results with the home team winning against Mumbai City FC. Jamshedpur, on the other hand, faced defeat at the hands of current table-toppers ATK and will look to bounce back to winning ways, but it won't be any easier against today's opposition who have been prolific this season. 6:52 PM: The teamsheets are in for both sides today. FC Goa: Nawaz (GK), Desai (C), Fernandes, Fall, Pena, Rodrigues, Singh, Brandon, Jahouh, Edu Bedia, Manvir Singh Substitutes: Navin (GK), Rebello, Singh, Kingslee, Saviour, Colaco, Ranawade Jamshedpur FC: Pal (GK), Singh, Narender, Tiri (C), Gurung, Memo, Aitor, Acosta, Farukh Choudhary, Castel, CK Vineeth Substitutes: Sardar (GK), Passi, Jadhav, Lourenco, Rahman, Jairu, Vanmalsawma 6:45 PM: Two of ISL's in-form teams face each other as high-flying Goa take on Jamshedpur in a mouthwatering clash at Fatorda today. Both teams are separated by a solitary point and three points today for the home team would take them to the top of the table, something which Sergio Lobera would love to have at the end of the day.
