The hosts will go into the game as underdogs having won just once this season.
Two teams who have had contrasting starts to their ISL 2019 campaign will meet at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday. ATK sit in third place in the table and will go top, should they win the match, while Hyderabad will hope to break their run without a win in five games.
ATK ran riot in the reverse fixture, winning the match 5-0 in Kolkata and Phil Brown’s Hyderabad FC will be hoping to avoid a similar fate this time around.
ATK will be looking to leapfrog Bengaluru FC to the top of the ISL, furthering their claim for a spot in the playoffs come the end of the season. The Kolkata outfit have found great success in their new signings. The likes of Roy Krishna and David Williams have set the ISL alight with their industrious attacking play.
Hyderabad, on the other hand, have had just one win all campaign. Phil Brown often looks like a man who has run out of ideas and it is surely not long before his position at the helm of the club is called into question. The hosts need to put a string of results together, if they are to pull themselves off the bottom of the table.
Hyderabad will be hoping to have central midfielder Marko Stankovic back for the match against ATK, following his hamstring injury against FC Goa. The club go into the game with a full squad and will be hoping to put up a better showing than they did the last time around.
Antonio Lopez Habas spoke in his press conference about how he hoped to have his new signing Mandi Sosa in the side for the match against Hyderabad. Should the Spaniard be available for selection, the manager will have a full strength to call upon.
Head to Head
Hyderabad FC , formerly known as FC Pune City, edge the head to head against ATK. Former two-time ISL champions ATK, winning five games and drawing three out of the 11 games played between the sides. However the 5-0 drubbing in the last encounter could be a sign of the tides shifting to favour the Kolkata side.
Men to Watch
Bobo (Hyderabad FC)
The Brazilian striker led the line for Hyderabad FC in their previous outing against Odisha FC and bagged his first goal of the campaign, albeit from the penalty spot. The 34-year-old will be hoping that the goal will be the push he needed to find the form that saw him score 27 goals in 28 games for Sydney FC in 2018.
Roy Krishna (ATK)
The Fijian striker has taken the ISL by storm since his transfer from Wellington Phoenix in the summer. Krishna has six goals in eight ISL games and sits on top of the league’s goalscoring charts. His partnership with fellow Wellington old boy, David Williams is proving a prolific one for the Kolkata franchise.
Kamaljit, Rai, Gurtej, Kilgallon, Panwar, Adil, Lopez Gomez, Barnes, Poojary, Robin, Bobo.
Arindam, Kotal, Agus, Salam, Prabir, Sehnaj, Javi, Garcia, Soosairaj, Williams, Krishna.
